English made almost certainly by Enfield circa 1862, with 21in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, stamped 'N.S.B.' below the short elevating ladder rear-sight, numbered '223' at breech, plain lock, chained nipple protector, walnut full-stock with brass furniture, the heel-plate numbered '601', trigger-guard tang numbered '23', saddle-bar to left hand side cheek, provision for leather sight cover (absent), two iron barrel-bands and captive iron stirrup ramrod
